History

Tracing the Association of Salesian Cooperators’ Beginnings in the Philippines South Province

The Association of Salesian Cooperators in the Philippines South Province (ASC-FIS) has a rich history marked by significant milestones. The journey began on May 30, 1975, when the first center was canonically erected in Victorias, Negros. This pivotal event saw 29 cooperators make their promise, thanks to the dedicated efforts of Sr. Fosca. This initial foundation set the stage for further expansion and development of the association.

A couple of years later, on January 30, 1977, Fr. Peter Zago organized another center at Lourdes Parish/Don Bosco Technical Center in Cebu, further solidifying the Salesian Cooperators’ presence in the region.

The growth and evolution of the association continued, culminating in a significant organizational change on May 30, 1992, with the establishment of the ASC-FIS province. This marked a new chapter for the Salesian Cooperators in the southern Philippines, as the FIS province was officially separated from Philippines North Province (FIN), allowing for more focused growth and development in serving the local communities and fulfilling their mission.

At the birth of ASC in FIS Province, the established ASC centers are as follows:
